"The Fast That I Have Chosen"


Fasting is a physical thing that we do that points to an inward personal journey with the Lord.  In Isaiah chapter 58, God reveals to the prophet His plan for a perfect fast before Him.  As we prepare, we confess our sinfulness and repent from our way of doing things.  In practice, we develop discretion and humility.  In prayer, we talk to God and spend time with Him.  However, God also instructs us that, while we are doing the internal work, we should also do good in the world in which we live.  Your reward for your obedience includes a closer walk with God, developing your sensitivity to His voice, and you are blanketed by His protection.

Adult bible study

Join us at 9 AM starting January 19th at 5447 N. Clark (North of the Main Entrance) for a study on Spiritual Disciplines.


Spiritual disciplines connect us to the God who wants to transform our souls. In this study we will focus on fasting, church fellowship, spiritual contentment and more.

Fasting

Calling on the Congregation to commit yourselves wholeheartedly with all prayer and requests praying at all time in the Spirit. Ephesians 6:18


When entering the Year of Illumination one enters as a child of light, casting off the works of darkness, walking in His marvelous light, putting on the armour of light, to shine forth the glory of God. As a child of God our light will radiate to bring salvation to the world.
