Parking is available throughout the Andersonville neighborhood. Most side streets are not zoned, so street parking is generally available.

• FREE parking at the lot of St. Gregory the Great Church from 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM
• Entrance to the parking lot is through the alley (enter from the alley between Catalpa Ave and Ashland Ave)

• Metered street parking
• Free parking on nearby side streets


Sunday

📜 Background of Colossians

Author: Paul the Apostle
Written To: The church in Colossae

Overview: Paul wrote His Epistle to the Colossians while in a Roman prison. Paul writes to the Colossian church emphasizing the absolute preeminence, deity, and sufficiency of Jesus Christ. He calls the believers to mature in their identity in Christ, rejecting legalism and asceticism, and to adopt a new life based on love, faith, and heavenly mindedness.

Purpose: To correct false teachings and exalt the supremacy of Christ.

Paul wrote this letter while imprisoned (around AD 60–62). The church was being influenced by false philosophies — a mixture of Jewish legalism, mysticism, asceticism, and early Gnostic ideas. Paul responds by declaring one powerful truth:

Christ is sufficient. Christ is supreme. Christ is enough.

Author: The book was written by Peter, one of Jesus’ twelve disciples and a leader in the early church.
Audience: Believers scattered throughout Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey) who were experiencing persecution and suffering for their faith.
Main Theme: Hope and holiness in the midst of suffering.

Peter encourages Christians to stand firm in trials, live holy lives, reflect Christ in difficult circumstances, and remember their eternal inheritance.

Summary:
1 Peter is a powerful letter written to believers facing hardship and persecution. Peter reminds them that their suffering has purpose and that they are chosen by God, called to live differently, and anchored in a living hope through Jesus’ resurrection. The letter emphasizes humility, perseverance, spiritual strength, and complete trust in God’s grace—even in life’s most challenging seasons.
